Private hospital is characterized by an individual’s choice for a private insurance company that offers health insurance, paid monthly in exchange for quality medical services.
Paid health insurance can make the difference between a quick and complete recovery compared to a prolonged and incomplete recovery in a public hospital. Private hospital provides space to treat patients perfectly and also allows time for a patient’s complete recovery from any illness or surgery.
Compared to a public hospital, a private hospital is equipped with new equipment for any type of investigation, it features modern salons with enough beds for every patient who requires hospitalization and also when making an appointment for surgery, the patient need not go through a triage system, the patient undergoes operation at that time. In essence, private medical service improves the treatments received at any public hospital, with exception of salons dedicated to emergency and accidents (both public and private hospitals in an emergency situation will treat you on the spot in order to survive).
Accidents and emergency rooms will continue to operate under the public health system in acute ability, while non-urgent treatments are the main concern of private medical services, allowing patients to choose the time, space favorable for their procedures and a private place where they rest and recover.
Like any system, of course, there are disadvantages such as inequality, which means that not every patient can benefit of private medical services. Therefore, taxes are paid by private insurance companies, if you need care after an accident or illness. All individuals who have a healthcare insurance policy as a result of their work agreements are receiving care in a private hospital, according to company policies.
Another disadvantage may be increased cost, not every patient can afford to be treated in a private hospital, especially students and older people.
A disadvantage can be the ignorance of people in terms of positive outcomes if people get better treatment in either public or private hospital. These are characterized by a better system care, which may contribute to a successful economy, if people are treated effectively and quickly, can lead to an improvement of work productivity.
In conclusion, the negatives of the private medical service is covered by the positive sides of it and anyone who needs care and better medical attention, it is advisable to go for a private hospital. Difference and convenience compared to public hospital can have a real impact on health and recovery time.

AIDS first occurred in 1980, and was considered a disease of homosexuals and drug users. In the beginning of this epidemic, hospitals did not know what triggered the sickness or the way it was propagated.

Over time various programs have been adopted and organizations founded, utilizing the best specialists of the world to fight against HIV and AIDS. So far, no antidote has been found, which makes the disease impossible to cure. In addition to “Hospitals of Solidarity Against HIV and AIDS,” another program was established named “Healthy Measures Program,” funded by an international organization of health care and drug distribution.

This program is promoting health measures to prevent the spread of the virus in hospitals. There are three stages in this program:

- Interviewing hospital staff regarding the risk of HIV spreading in hospitals.

- Assessment of hospitals regarding processes, procedures as well as products used in the current medical system;

- Implementation of an action plan related to hygiene and sanitation in hospitals.

In addition, this program “Healthy Measures” provides the hospitals: checklists, educational and training materials, monthly advice and access to the extensive research about HIV and the disease AIDS, disinfection of the hospital environment and patient care equipment. These strategies are essential in preventing the spread of HIV in hospitals.

Patients being admitted to a hospital are already in a vulnerable state, putting them at a higher risk for HIV infection. Therefore, it is extremely important for hospitals to consider these preventive measures, for the protection of their patients and to reduce the incidence of mortality in hospitals. According to research approximately 100,000 deaths occur each year in U.S. hospitals caused by HIV and AIDS, respectively.

The international organization which sponsors “Healthy Measures Program Against AIDS” is committed to providing and supporting a high standard of medical services for people infected with HIV. The main objective for each international program remains ongoing development of a quality program management that reflects not only the ability to analyze and continuously improve HIV treatment, but also for patients to receive quality services of care and support.

In the last 150 years, there has been a gradually global change in the medical field. Due to large number of patients infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), hospitals have been forced to adopt new systems to fight against the virus. Almost 30% of the total population of developing countries has been found to be HIV positive. As a result of this staggering statistic, a new project, called Hospital Solidarity Against HIV has come into being. The funds needed to implement this project came from the Global Fund Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, initiated by the United Nations. The Hospital Solidarity Against HIV project had as its objective bringing anti-retroviral drugs into the less developed countries where the drugs cannot be obtained in spite of the dire need for them.
Five European countries ~ France, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg and Portugal, have aligned themselves with this same purpose, to fight against AIDS. They are working to create a collaboration between hospitals in developed countries with hospitals in the less developed countries, and to offer help with the organization, management and technical training of health and social staff.
Those five European countries have worked with hospitals in different countries, as follows:
- Spain has started working with 12 hospitals in Latin America: Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic; 3 hospitals in Africa: Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique;
- Luxembourg has cooperated with two hospitals in Rwanda;
- France, with 28 hospitals in 13 countries in Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Madagascar, Mali, Central African Republic, Senegal, Togo, South Africa, Mozambique and Morocco,
- Italy has collaborated with 19 hospitals in six African countries: South Africa, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Burkina Faso, Uganda and Mozambique.
- Portugal and the United States still have not identified hospitals with which to collaborate.
The purpose of these collaborations is to provide methods, solutions of prevention, to allow people access to more information about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and also to reduce discrimination against the people who are already infected.

Hospitals should learn and understand the needs of patients. In general, patients choose their hospital for treatment according to certain factors, such as: hospital reputation, the doctors who are working there, convenience salons (in case of hospitalization) and a better professional healthcare.

Research shows that these factors should not be overlooked; they are the main factors which influence the selection of hospitals by patients. An online survey about the experiences of patients in hospitals, completed by more than 2,000 patients in the U.S. who have health insurance or Medicare, indicates that hospitals need to improve in terms of services offered. An opinion poll was also conducted among doctors to determine whether or not they agree with the requirements of patients on these issues. Doctors claim that the patient should be placed first. They want their patients to have a positive experience every time they cross the threshold of a hospital, without incident. According to the doctors’ opinion poll, a doctor will often send a patient to a hospital with a better reputation, at the request of the patient. This is the case particularly if the current hospital does not have the necessary equipment or technology for treatment or surgery.

Few doctors understand what it means in terms of value to a hospital, for the patient to feel secure that their expectations are being met. Many doctors do not know how and when to act in order to respond to the expectations of patients. The majority of hospital executives believe it is enough to measure and increase patient satisfaction, and also to resolve their complaints.

It requires more than the basics, because competition for patients who have medical insurance intensifies. Patients can be more selective regarding the hospital they choose for their treatment and care.

In order to enhance the quality of the hospital experience for a patient, it is required that the doctor:

- Inform patients about treatment regularly, both during and after consultation;

- Observe the consultations;

- In case of hospitalization,  provide an appropriate room for the patient, offering convenience and ease of use of facilities;

- Inform families regarding the visiting hours;

- Allow patient access to medical records;

- Simplify the hospitalization and/or treatment bill.

Assuring a part of these services, hospitals can achieve a better reputation, offering patients a positive experience.

Hospitals reached maximum levels of performance, technology and organization in the 20th Century, but society is in a constant state of change. Thus it brings new standards of performance at the medical level, and hospitals need to adapt to the new requirements of the 21st Century. According to some studies, this transition from older to more modern medical technologies in the 21st Century has highlighted some problems of hospitals regarding the issues of safety, quality of service, high cost and the development of competition among the hospitals. In order to solve these problems, hospitals must analyze the strategies used in the 20th Century and adapt to new technologies of today.

One of the most important issues that hospitals face nowadays is how the hospitals are built. This is an important consideration because patients, their families and the staff working in a hospital can experience much stress. For instance, a hospital that is noisy, with poor ventilation and low air quality may contribute to infections, medical errors, lack of sleep and anxiety for the patients, all of which can lead to slow healing process or even serious injury.

Thus, many hospitals in the U.S., Europe and Asia may have recourse to health center design experts and a non-profit research project in collaboration with health care providers named Pebble Project.

Pebble Project consists in:

a) Individual rooms for patients and family space. The benefits include reducing the rate of infections, medical errors, and noise; and increasing patient confidentiality and ensuring better communication between staff and patients.

b) Rooms appropriate for patient acuity, which reduces number transfers of patients from one room to another to receive care according to their level of acuity. These rooms are equipped with acuity adaptable headwalls, equipped with gases and equipment necessary to provide care where patient acuity has changed.

c) Access to windows and light for patients. It has been scientifically proven that light is essential for human functioning, and is beneficial for patients as well as hospital staff in fulfilling visual tasks.

d) Filter HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air), helps to provide a clean and efficient way of controlling the pollution and filter air;

e) Ceiling lifts help to ensure better movement of hospital staff and patients and is vital in cases of emergency;

f) Decentralized work stations and supplies.

This project has been adopted on the basis of research evidence concerning efficiency of hospital before and after project implementation. The research results showed lower costs, fewer nosocomial infections, fewer medical errors, increased recruitment and also improved the quality of healthcare to patients.

Choosing a doctor is a very important and difficult decision. It is a necessary decision that can affect your life in a positive or negative way. One of the issues that may influence your decision in choosing a doctor is: older doctor or young doctor? Naturally each one has advantages and disadvantages, which will be reflected on your health.If you were born during the 1040’s-50’s perhaps you remember the old doctor who used to come to your house with his medical tool kit at any time you need, and who established your confidence with a calm and kind demeanor. Because of these preconceived ideas, many people turn to an older doctor. Older doctors have more experience, because they have treated many patients in their lives and have developed an intuitive side of the disease. This is an advantage in some situations, especially when time is an essential factor in diagnosing disease.

But choosing an older doctor, even if he has more experience and intuition better than a young doctor, may also have disadvantages such as:

Communication between patient and a older doctor is sometimes more difficult;

The difference of years between doctor and patient is important;

Adapting to new technologies and medical information;

Old doctors are usually more conservative and are tend to use old treatments.

Opposed to older doctors, young doctors who have just graduated are up to date with new treatments and ready to use them. Young doctors in general are more willing to communicate and explain better than older, being more open to alternative medicine approaches. One of the disadvantages of collaborating with a young doctor it is that many times they believe that they have all the answers and they do not need to ask advice of other older doctors. Another disadvantage is the lack of experience and intuition.

These are only some of the aspects that could help you in selecting a doctor. An ideal doctor would be one who exhibits a balance between the two generations: the open communication and updated knowledge of a young doctor, and the experience and intuition of an older doctor.

Often the doctor is considered the rescuer of human life. Being a doctor is not so easy. They have to pass through a long series of stringent studies to obtain a medical license before they can practice medicine. A medical education is lengthy and involves: pre-university education, medical school and graduation of medical education (these include residency and fellowship training).Pre-university education includes four years of study at a university which focuses more on basic sciences, namely biology, chemistry and physics. After these four years, students obtain a BA degree (Bachelor of Arts) or BS (Bachelor of Science).Medical school (undergraduate medical education) consists of four years of study at a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The course of study is divided into two parts: pre-clinical and clinical. After graduating from this school, students get the doctor of medicine (MDS) designation. In order to practice medicine on their own, they should follow another supplementary training from their coordinators.

After graduating from medical school, a residency program follows, which lasts from 3 to 7 years, or more for professional formation. Residents are constantly supervised by senior doctors. The duration of training varies depending on specialty the resident has selected; such as family medicine, internal medicine or pediatrics ~ each of which lasts three years of training. Surgery residency generally lasts five years. For additional training into a subspecialty, physicians can opt for scholarships which last from 1 to 3 years.

After graduating from pre-university, medical school and medical university, a doctor must go through a number of exams to obtain licensed to practice medicine. The majority of doctors choose to have board certification. They are tested to assess their knowledge, skills and experience in a specialty and their ability to provide quality healthcare in that specialty. Doctors can be qualified in 36 general medical specialties and in an optional 88 subspecialties. These certifications must be renewed after six or 10 years, depending on the specialty selected.

Even if a doctor goes through all these steps, he needs to learn constantly and keep updating his knowledge, in order to receive credit for continuing medical education (CME). Also, some states require a doctor to have a certain number of credits per year to ensure that the doctor has the current knowledge and skills.

Diets are influenced by several factors such as religion, tradition, environmental and moral concepts. Many people consider vegetarianism as a perfect food style that protects their health keeping them away from diseases and increasing longevity. Physicians and researchers after studying the human physiology have managed to identify an array of substances that are participating in the complex metabolic processes ~ these substances are not found in a vegetarian diet. A lack of these substances can prevent the body from functioning properly. The human diet is omnivorous; therefore, humans need vegetable as well as animal food.
Advantages of a vegetarian diet:
•    Easier digestion;
•     Detoxify the body;
•    Fiber content help decreasing the risk of different type of diseases such as colon cancer, helps control high cholesterol, hypertension or stroke, diabetes;
• Fruits and vegetables are the one responsible to provide the vitamins and the minerals that are essential for a healthy body. Beans, tofu, seeds are a good source of proteins. These contain large amounts of antioxidants in both detoxifications, as well as in the fight against cancer, early aging and cardiovascular diseases.
•     Bring a lower intake of toxins for organism;
• Fruits and vegetables are good for your health.
Disadvantages of vegetarian diet:
•    In the vegetarian diet, the body is deprived of high quality proteins (those found in animal products like meat, fish, eggs, dairy, chicken);
•    Vegetarians can contract megaloblastic anemia because their diets are missing vitamin B12, which is essential for the formation of blood cells fighting against anemia;
•    Vegetarians have a deficit of calcium (milk and derivatives, meat) and vitamin D;
•    The total lack of fats and cholesterol can obstruct the development of  the nervous system and interfere with normal functioning of the body;
• Another major risk that vegetarians may have is the deficiency of iron, since the primary source of iron in the body is meat ~ especially red meat. Lack of iron in the diet can lead to exhaustion, anemia, and overall reduction of energy..
Vegetarian diet includes fruits, vegetables and cereals, which are good for your health. However this diet does not provide all the nutritional requirements of the body.

One of the differences between humans and animals is the fact that humans have the ability to smile. Studies have shown that infants can sketch their first smile at two hours after birth. Smiling is one of the most common facial expressions used by people. Happiness is the most pleasant feeling that your body experiences, and often this may influence your health and well being. Of course, you need reasons to be happy, but most of the time you can induce your own feelings of happiness and joy without doing anything in particular.

There are many ways that you can express this feeling of happiness, such as:

Write a list of 100 things that makes you happy. Once you start to think and write down things and moments that make you happy, you’ll see that the rest comes naturally. You can write about a funny moment from work, your favorite music, a rainbow, or meeting with friends. After you’ve finished, you can post this list in a place where you will see it every day.

Keep a journal of happiness. How much you experience happy moments depends largely on how receptive you are to the kinds of stimuli that make you happy. Recording a happy moment in your journal every day will make you more aware.

Maintain a healthy diet. Eating well does not mean eating a lot, but eating healthy foods that you like and your body needs. A healthy diet helps you to keep emotionally balanced and allows you to experience positive feelings.

Try new things, discover new hobbies that can make you happy (a new book or a movie, physical exercise for your health). All these things are meant to make you feel better and happy.

Accept sadness and sorrow as part of daily life. Sometimes these phases of your life are crucial because they help you to appreciate the things you have.

A smile can be considered the best make-up. People who smile are considered more beautiful, more pleasant, and thus are more easily accepted in the community.

There are plenty of things that can make you happy. Smiling is probably the most beautiful skill that humanity has. Smiling makes you better, healthier and happier.

Only one exercise can release some other series of natural antidepressants in the medicine cabinet of your body, some of which are: dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin. Studies have shown that a serious regimen of exercise is very effective in trying to reduce the feelings of anger, depression, confusion and tension. Meanwhile, studies indicate that the sudden movements of an easy exercise can develop a new attitude toward life and craft you to be less anxious.

Regular physical activities showed sold proof to be the true enemy of stress and a great weapon against exhaustion. A number of hormones combined with beneficial chemicals that occur during exercise comprise a major part of an arsenal that can protect the body from the noxious substances created by any kind of stress.

Physical activity can improve your attitude toward yourself, offering you more self- confidence. The way you feel will directly affect the way you use your body, and even how you look. There are many physical activities that you can push the boundaries. Yoga may be one of these exercises, because it contains some breathing techniques to help you build your confidence and your self-esteem. The yoga position that involves this activity creates a good positioning of the spine to help you sit up straight, improving the fluidity of your movements. These open the chest for regular and deep breathing that will help you to calm nerves and ease your mind.

Regular exercise produces various beneficial substances that help you feel fit physically, mentally and emotionally. You have to find a physical activity that you enjoy and add a dose of health on your life daily to stay fit and happy.
